Woman: Mask / Femme : masque

Woman: Mask

I took many photographs of women during the last few weeks. Some were conscious of it, others not. For what I had in mind, it was not very important to get an authorisation. As you can see below, I do not think that anybody could recognise the model.

It is true that I started from a photograph. The final image, though, has almost nothing to do with it. It is mostly electronic, a result from heavy post-processing and drawing with the graphic tablet. There are some dark forces boiling inside, nothing to be done, I can't keep them in check.

I am slowly getting there, it's what I want to do. Light and shapes, I have to bend them to my will. And I am less desperate than I was.

Femme : masque

  2. you know how i love your black/white work - and this is just beauty in so many ways - i enlarged it to fill my screen and then just sat and looked at it in sections - each one of which could actually have been a separate image, standing alone - but your whole is truly wonderful - the texture and shape and light and dark - what can one say - sublime, roger!

  8. @Suzanne : Wow...

  9. @Jenean: Hello to you dear Jenean and dangerous gypsy woman! :-) Stop this praise or I'm gonna blush under my beard, and that would not do, would it?

I'm very happy that you like it. I must tell you, I'm still working on it and trying something a bit different, and I don't know...

I must tell you... this was a very poor picture of a young lady far from being at her best, just getting out of sleep and with very poor lighting and no contrast to speak about. I would like to show the difference but then I can't do that, she would not be pleased.

Sublime I don't know, I'm too involved in it. It is probably very near what I wanted to do though, and what else can I say?

    Have fun, dear Jenean.

Beyond the portrait, those lines form, for me, infinitely graceful shapes, a dancing silhouette of light. It's a sculpture.

Ok, just for that, you get three days off from doing the dishes, Mr. Artist.

  23. @Zuzana: Hello dear Zuzana! Peace and happiness in this New Year, and let us hope that all wars end! I would not bet on that last one though, war seems to be ingrained in Human Nature, which is often not very beautiful.

Thank you for your comment. I put so much of myself in this one that I am afraid that I will never be able to approach this level again. Strange...

    ••••••••••••••••••••••••

@Hélène: Hello, love of my life... You are absolutely right: a sculpture made with a light ray on a black surface. A sculpture that seems to move with the light...

You alone, love, really know the down that falls on me after creating something like this. Discouragement, regret, anxiety. But where is the pleasure of creating? Ambivalence ... I keep my eyes on the next step and I see only emptiness.

No, it's not chance, but then how come I can't be repeatedly at such a level... And in a way I am sort of waiting for something to happen. Inspiration, perhaps? I don't know.
